Argos: continous improvement on site

Argos is the largest non-food retail chain in the UK. With annual sales of to £ 4.2 billion (€ 5.04 billion), the company sells a wide range of home, electrical, garden and DIY products from its catalogue, website and over 760 stores in the UK and Ireland. With an on-site maintenance team of 33 people at its 52 000 m2 distribution centre in Barton-under-Needwood, Vanderlande Industries is working closely with the customer on continuously improving system performance and availability.

Vanderlande Industries provides a team of service engineers responsible for maintenance and support of the materials handling system, 24/7. Key maintenance aims are maximising availability and helping the customer’s operations team to achieve their KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) which are reviewed daily.

Part of the service contract was also the implementation of a CMMS for all of the Argos equipment, as well as a condition monitoring programme for all critical components.

The on-site team always concentrates on further continuous improvement of operating efficiency. Together with Argos they have made some considerable improvements.
